Bunk modifications

I was going to lower my bunks so my boat sits lower and better on the trailer. I was wondering if I remove the inner bunks and place them on the far out side would that be a good idea?

As long as you have full bunks very near the stringer location your good imo.

The length of the flat portion of the hull at least.

We normally do shorter outer bunks sometimes called "pony bunks".

I there anyone on here or a shop around the Inland empire area that can cut and weld new bunk mounts on my trailer. Switched out boats. I want to lower the boat on the trailer it sits really high right now and move the outer bunks out more. The engine is out of the boat right now also.

Ok so my friend did the brackets for the bunks yesterday on my trailer and when we got done one of the bunks wasn't touching. It's one that supports the stringer. Just in the rear of the boat. We did those first and it did touch at first. We didn't replace the wood at all, just the brackets. The trailer was for a different boat. Any one have ideas on maybe why?

Maybe the weight of the engine? or lack thereof?
They should 'conform' to the hull over time & getting wet.

mine were the same way when i replaced mine. They now touch. Just launched it a few times and let them "warp" to the hull as they dried out

We moved the bunk brackets. The inner ones needed to go in more and we moved the outer ones out further. We did the center ones first and everything was nice. Did the outer ones next and then that inner rear didn't touch anymore. We didn't replace the wood though. Sorry I didn't say that in the original post. I went and fixed the post.

I used thin aluminum cut in squares of about 3" placed in between bunk/mount to even out my newer outer bunks.

Use some scrap 1/4" something around to see if thats the thickness. U could get some remnant pieces at your local metal shop for a few bucks already the size u need. Just drill a center hole an done.

My buddy came by with a 1/4 peace of metal and we threw it last night. All the bunks touch now.
