Dolly trailer build

Hello everyone i thought i would share my new trailer build for my spectra. the old trailer needed a lot of work and i was looking to gain some space in the garage so i made the decision to go with a dolly style trailer.

im cheap so im doing all the work myself and attempting to make all the brackets and axles myself. i ordered the hubs srings spindles safety cables and a few other odds and ends from e trailer supply .

when i got the spindles i froze them then heated my axle tube so they would slip together easy before welding.

i found some nice dot approved golf cart wheels and tires for a good price to use

next i started cutting out all of my spring perches and hangers. i got a little carried away with overlays and gussets but i think it will look good and be strong

What are the speed rating on those tires ? You may want to reconsider those tires and look at pop up tent trailer tires. Looking good though

not sure on speed rating they are load rated "C"

the boat and trailer only need to travel about a mile round trip to the gas station and water with a max 45 speed limit on the highwayi doubt i should have any problems

i decided to french the tail lights in. way too much work

i also welded some tube inside the tounge tube which is 3"x4" square for safety cables

Where did u find that coupler? And what are the dimensions on it? Been looking to replace mine for awhile.

I got it at arrow trailer supply was about 40 bucks. The inside dimension where it slips over the tube is 3" wide

i got the spring perches welded up on the bench

then i started assembling the cut tubes and getting the trailer square

i also threw in some gussets you wont really see them unless the boat is off the trailer but i thought they were neat

before welding the rails together i cut holes to run my wires through the tube

i also strung some wire through the frame to pull my wires through later once its painted

What is the wall thickness of the tube and is that 2x3 tube ? Looking killer

2"x4" .120 wall and the tounge is 3"x4" .188 wall

Boy, with a little practice you might get pretty good at that welding and fabbing stuff!

JK, that thing is way cool. Obviously you have access to a water jet or something like that. It sure makes for some clean fabrication, very nice work!
