trailer bunks to high
« on: December 23, 2007, 08:39:52 AM »
I just put the Fantasy project on my other trailer and now it seems the boat sits really high on the trailer. Different hull than what it was built for, so is there any dis'advantage of it sitting to high other than having to put the trailer deeper in the water to launch ???

The bunk risers  are welded on and i was thinking about cutting them off and using the adjustables to bring it down some, but thats more money that i could put into the boat.

It looks like it has a lift kit when it sits on the trailer ;D

yeah dude my bunk mounts are like 9" high or something, but ive had the rig for about 3 years now, and nothing...actually, until a couple weeks ago, i thought that was average, until i started paying attention to other's bunks on their jets...mine just looks high as f$%# also...

The only disadvantage I can see is that you will have to back into the water deeper to float the boat off.

I have some you can have but I won't have them off of the trailer for at least another week or so. Rod.

I think I have the answer, but could be full of "bunk" (sorry) :-[ What I have done in the passed is to cut the riser with a sawzall straight across, then lower the boat where you want it and drill through the plates with a 1/2" hole and rebolt with grade 8 bolts and nuts "Viola" (will only work to lower the boat). I'll see if I still have the pictures.

I used to have a marine repair shop that specialized in Jets, aluminum and welding. Let me know how it turns out. Chow
