Boat Repair Shop
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:06:25 AM »
so I've been dealing with Corona Marine    for a couple of months trying to fix my boat. I took my boat in because the motor would die like it is running out of gas around 3000 RPM. So i was told the problem was do to my carb (witch was just rebuilt) so i said fine fix it. While it was there they also replaced the plugs. I got a call saying it was done, so I picked it up and went straight to the lake. Where it had the exact same problem :banghead:, so we took it back to them that same day and they said it was the fuel pump. so I went out and bought the one he recommended (as they were to busy to work on it). Then took it back out to the lake and what do you know same problem. So I took it back for a third time to them where I was told I needed a new dist and coil, which they wanted me to pay for as it was not anything they worked on and not covered under the warranty. I was a little pissed at that point, 1st you have a 90 day warranty and you don't want to back it, 2nd why wasn't this brought up the first time. So after a couple of back and fourth phone calls we came to an agreement and he replaced the parts. So i got the call saying everything was good to go and guess what SAME PROBLEM   . Now i am out a lot of cash and back at square one. On top off all that they want an additional 200 for me to bring it in so they can test the problem they never fixed. I'm not normally one to complain about things but this is crazy. Just Putting this out there to warn others about there service.

the first thing you learn when getting into any motorsport hobby (cars, marine, offroad, etc) is to NOT throw parts at a problem.

does it die when you're easing into it or when you jump on the throttle?  motor stalling at 3k rpms isnt very fun, especially when your wake catches up to you.  does it fire up right away after it dies or does it take a few cranks?  mechanical secondaries or vacuum? HEI ignition?  whats going on with your fuel lines from the tank to the carb?  what diameter hose, any filters, etc.  Can you get it to rev over 3k on the trailer?

Post up some pix of what you're working with.  Where are you located?

It dies both when you ease into it or if you floor it.and the boat fires up right away. it has a holley 650 vacuum secondaries. not sure on ignition but will post a pic.

fuel lines are 3/8 and go from tanks to water/fuel separator to the fuel pump then thru a fuel filter then to carb.

on the trailer it will rev above 3k. and the wierd thing is when i get to the lake i can run around for a while at 4000+ no problems get to the beach hang out for a couple hours and try to go cruz then the boat wont even plane before the motor dies like its running out of gas.

i am located in Garden Grove off the 22 and Valley View.
