Did not want to thread jack the Sanger circle boat thread, sooo.
Tom said something that reminded me of a story, he said they took the little Sanger to a small lake and the ranger gave him some shit.
About 1990 I had a race boat to test on a local "pond", the problem was it had 3 huge numbers down the side and happen to be built of aluminum

Lets just say when we backed this thing in the water, everybody at the launch ramp stopped what they were doing to watch us, including the county park ranger, we will call him "Richard"

So Richard comes over to us and says "so how fast does this thing go?", So being as cool as I could, I said "don't know, haven't had it in the water yet.", He continues, "is it loud?", so I answer "maybe". This goes on for a couple of minutes, then he finally asks us "should I allow this boat on the water?", so now I stop and say "why wouldn't you?" and he says with a straight face "sure looks like a race boat".... I'm thinking "duh"...
He was cool and let us on the lake, but reminds me of the 35 MPH speed limit, I just nodded like I understood...
So we get this thing in the water and idled out of the no wake zone and there were probably 15 people standing on the dock. As soon as we clear the bouy, we hammer down, the boat pops out of the hole like it was bit in the ass and we run it around the lake at about 85 MPH with a 200+ foot rooster, of course the ranger was in his 12' Whaler with the lights blazin', so we slow down to a stop and he says "I thought we had an understanding about the speed limit". So being my smart ass self I say "we did, you asked if I knew about the 35 MPH speed limit, I nodded yes, but I never said I was going to obey it, the ticket is $35 right?," he says yes then he's quiet for a minute and then says if I take him for a ride he'll overlook the violation, so away we went one more time around the lake, scared the living crap out of the Ranger too...The very next season, somehow the county rangers ended up with a 2 year old Duckworth Sheriff Patrol boat with a Kodiak pump and an EFI Big Block Chev., my shop did the maintenance on it for four years...
I could have asked for permission to "test out the boat", but sometimes its easier to beg forgiveness then ask for permission...
