i need to re-wire both my boats where is the best place to buy the wire from and what sizes should i get?

ralph the best prices i found were from summit. Cheap by the roll. i use mostly 14 ga for all but the instruments

Isn't there such a thing as "marine" wire specifically made to resist corroding or some such shizz?   I thought I read that on here.   Maybe not.

 Remember Ralph, you need more than one color of wire this time.  No more big balls of all green wire like the pink boat had.   

harbor freight has inexpensive heat shrink connectors. thats the best way to go

Marine wire is tinned, not stainless. 

It is also very expensive and unless your boat will spend 40% or more of it's life in the water, not needed IMHO.

Ralph, let me find out Monday if I can still get the Mercruiser wiring harnesses for $110 from a buddy of mine who runs a local shop, you will be money and time ahead....They are pre-jacketed and have all the standard wire colors for marine use. I put one of these in three of the last four boats we built and will never do it another way. You will spend over $110 on just the wire if you go the other way, copper is selling for well over $2 a pound right now as raw material. 

I will let you know....On the positive side, they come with a canon connector at the engine, so removing the engine no longer requires a deconstruction, just a single plug.

I second the summit suggestion. They sell it cheap by the  roll....different gauges and colors.

and harbor freight has good heat shrink stuff....and pick up a heat gun while you're there....cig lighters just dont cut it.

No lighters don't work thats why I use a butane torch works just fine 

i rewired mine last year and am not happy with it so today i called my local low rider shop and ordered a wire harness. its got 4 14 guage wires and one 10 guage wire in it. they build the harnesses for the guys that run the trucks with airbags.... im excited to get it...

I got all my stuff at mcmaster. Tinned wire and everything.
