Make an intake and put a Hollie on it bro. Other wise I can get them from a off-road shop in vegas not cheep 48s are very good carbs for a vw motor.

I don't even run holleys on my boat :-) I have 40 idfs now and I sold a set of 48's to my brother. So I want another set. Nothing beats 48's on a vw

What motor are you running? IDAs are actually overkill on 90% of projects. On a sand car you want a progressive carb not a full bore dragster carb like IDAs.

My motor is a 2275 10:1 with an FK-87 cam. Heads are stock Volkswagen castings that have been welded and ported to as big as they can get. The valves are S.S 48mmx37.5mm with relocated spark plug holes. The springs are K-motion 800. Full circle crank and straight cut gears. 48 IDAs can be used on motors as small as 1600cc. They need a lot of work to make them work but they can. The 48 IDA venturis can be changed along with different emulsion tubes and jetting. There is also an old racer trick  that is now common but that is to drill a third progression hole to ease into the transision from the crack of the throttle to mid throttle. They can be used on the street easier that way. I have been playing with Volkswagens my whole life, my Dad used to race them back in the 70's-80's. Progressive carbs work in the sand they just don't make enough power. 48 IDAs will make more power than any other down draft carb, that's why they are so sought after. My sand car weights roughly 800lbs and the 2275 with the 48's will make horsepower will into the 200's .
