Sorry for this...But for a jet?, how far forward is the engine? (standard driveline?) I have one, but it is deeper than a jet boat pan by just under an inch...

The guy rebuilding my motor was suggesting I get one to avoid heating up and thining out the oil to be safe. Im not sure its necessary but I dont want to take chances. What size are you using in yours?

The 10qt pans are designed so that you run more oil, you keep your oil cooler than if you have a stocker, but a stocker isn't going to kill you, I ran a stock 8qt truck pan for years before I spent the $ on a 10qt

There are more reasons than just temperature.....

The higher the capacity, the fewer round trips it makes, not only allowing it to absorb less heat, but lets the bubbles settle out for a longer period of time, which can help control windage and aeration of the pump....Also acts as a shock absorber as far as running the pan dry, oil, especially foamy hot oil, can hang up in the top end of any engine....


Not to mention, make a gigantic smoking mess when the rods come out to visit you....

usually if you buy a jet boat pan they will fit a jet boat! there really isnt a general number to go by, but truck pans will sometimes fit! some motors sit higher then others....

a good for instance! my buddy bought a mach 1 jet boat minus motor....a couple days later he buys a seguaro jet boat for the healthy BBC thats in it...so we pull the healthy BBC out of the seguaro "deeper entry" boat, and go to drop it in the mach1...mach 1 "low freeboard" boat...the healthy bbc had the truck pan on it, and we go to set it in, and it is resting on the intake with about 1/2 an inch to hit the rails on the rail kit...so we pull it back out, and put the 10qt jet pan on and whalah...it fits
