if you change main caps you have to line bore motor, why don;t you just convert it to a 4 bolt main,it'l cost you about $100.00 to have it drilled and tapped for the extra bolts, plus the line bore

Good point and it'll all depend on what I can come across cheaply.

Omar,, the 402 is just a .030" over 396. The story is that GM had a bad run of castings and had to bore the blocks .030 from the start.
