Looking for pto and drive line for Chevy
« on: March 19, 2017, 10:48:12 AM »
Hey guys I got a cruiser the other day and the pto/driveline don't go together lol I can only get two bolts in it at this time. It's a small block Chevy and Berk combo. Idk if there's a difference between pto for flex plate and pto for flywheel but either will work as I have a flywheel on the boat but have a few flex plates I can swap it for. Thanks in advance for any and all help

The PTO for a flexplate has a counterbore to register on the crankshaft.

The PTO for a flywheel has a boss to register inside the flywheel itself.  Flywheels are thicker at the flange than flexplates and totally cover the crankshaft register.

The crankshaft 3.58" bolt circle is the same for two-piece rear main seal (pre '86) SBC and BBC.  One-piece rear main seal SBC use a 3.00" bolt circle.

The flange yoke does not have a square bolt pattern.  If you rotate the drive line 90-degrees, will it bolt up?  Could be, however unlikely, that you have different series drive line and PTO, i.e. 1310/1350 or some other old, oddball parts.

I tried all possible configurations it's a 1350 pto and a1310 driveline someone put in here and managed to get two bolts in. Some how. But I have both a flex plate and flywheel here I just I'll measure the bolt circle now to be sure though I didn't realize it was different
