Wiring supplies
« on: June 11, 2014, 07:28:37 PM »
Alright guys, I'm trying to get this boat running so I can hit the water this year. If any of you guys have some wire left over from wiring your boat up please let me know. I'm running my olds while the ford is getting slowly built. The hardin diagram is showing 17 damn wires! Thanks.

I'm an elevator tech.  Have access to lots of wire.  In fact right now I have 30 wire looms and 14 wire looms.  Just let me know.

Hardin marine is listing 17 connections. I don't remember how many were on it when I pulled the motor as the old wiring was a spliced together mess. The full harnesses are 30 more for the olds than the chevy and I just can't see the quality in the price. I'd rather pay more and have it wired better. But I also want to do it myself or with a bit of help from a member than just pay a shop.

I use the Mercruiser style 9 wire Marine grade kits, they are about $60 and have high quality wire and marine grade insulation.

I have no problem believing 17 connections, but there are very few conductors relatively speaking.

I will get a price check in the AM.

Glen if you are referring to this site http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/c/ALL6I/Instrument%20Panel%20Harnesses I bookmarked it from a previous post. I just was unsure of which one I should get.

I buy them from a buddy of mine in Oregon who builds boats... They are super nice and are like S-O cord (built like a heavy extension cord with a heavy insulation over the whole thing...)..

I will call him on the morning..............  ;)
