IMO you're going to get better performance with a Weiand Team G or Edelbrock Victor Jr over the single carb tunnel ram. 
If you're just looking for the tunnel ram "look", I'd still recommend going with dual carbs and go with two 1850 Holley 600 vacuum secondaries.  Easy to set up, you don't have to have special linkage and easy to tune.

Single carb tunnel rams are known for having poor fuel distribution and giving goofy plug readings when trying to tune.

i agree the single 4 tunnel is not the best choice for max power. Trying to duplicate a engine combination for a restoration. Hopeing another hot boat guy has one sitting around collecting dust he would part with.

That's cool, just didn't want you to feel like you wasted your money after you got it together.

My single TR, on oval port heads even, ran smooth as silk for the few years I had it.

It was a square port tr on oval port heads and it never gave me any guff.
It did run hard though.
I never gps'd either but for a resto project it should run perfect.
I wanna say offy designed it with street rod/jet boats  in mind.

 Yea it was designed for street rods/boats.  But it was also designed with TWO carbs on top of it. When I put one on my 460, it lost RPM compaired to the stock cast iron Ford intake.  Once I switched to the duel 4 barrel top, it finally gained RPM over the stock intake.

 Sure you can run one if your trying to duplicate a look for a resto, no doubt about that.  But (IMO) just about anything else you try on there will work better.
