Are you looking for a square nose or round nose. With 1500 you can get a decent square nose with a 701 swap but if you want a newer round nose your gonna have to spend more coin. I've owned a few and have a couple (not for sale) and have built many. Let me know if I can help

I'm also considering 750 Kawasaki. I noticed the yamaha superjets hold their value more than the Kawasakis and the round nose cost alittle more. Thanks Havasukona455.

Are you looking for a square nose or round nose. With 1500 you can get a decent square nose with a 701 swap but if you want a newer round nose your gonna have to spend more coin. I've owned a few and have a couple (not for sale) and have built many. Let me know if I can help

i too have a couple square nose superjets....what havasukona455 said is legit. if you search long enough...you may find a square nose for about a grand. 701 is a good motor. if you get a newer 701, like '96+ [62t] ( i think ), they'll make more power with mods (they have bigger intakes). you can make a 650 run good....if someone has put in the time already, could be a good option. factory B pipes are good for exhaust. riva is as well. new CDI...higher rev limiter. single dual barrel carb if you can. make sure you inspect the impeller, aftermarket or stock cast . no knicks, bent blades. look thru the intake. speaking of....see if it has aftermarket intake grate. scoop grates are best, loader grate require more ponies to benefit from. umi quick steer is cool, same as finger trigger for throttle. aluminum handle pole...with or without aftermarket pole spring-helps rider fatigue. and an aftermarket ride plate...theyre longer and help keep nose planted....similar to a jet boat.

Kawis are more of a bouy chaser and super jets are more for freestyle and they have more torque. It really depends on what you wanna do with it

agreed! :thumbup: both of my 701s are 61x. one single carb, one single dual barrel carb. single seems snappier (?), dual has more top end.

The ticket motor is a 62t bottom end with the larger intake and a 61x top end with the lower port timing to make the torques.
B pipes wake them up. Mine is stock and I run the shit out of my 701 square several times a week and who knows how many hours it has.. I run cheap oil and gas and it's never missed a beat. I've had two Kawasakis modded out and there was always a project with them. Seems like stock just works for me.
There is virtually no handling difference with a round nose.until you get into 2008 and newer. 1500 will yield a nice square nose. Figure 2k will get you semi clean with 701, B pipe, intake grate and impeller.

Square nose with a 701 is the only jet ski I'd buy right now.
Ridden round noses, had Kawi 550, 650, and 750sxi's, but the square nose 701 is my favorite. I like surf riding though and that's the perfect ski.
Racing/bouy chasing the sxi and newer sxr are hard to beat. In my experience the kawi's really like to be leaned over for turns and the Yamaha's turn much flatter.

650s are good. more than enough power for fun, especially if you're just getting started. 701 gives you just a bit more power everywhere. but still very "street-able", if you will.... crazy, to me....would be 800+cc, heavy porting, water injected exhaust(the kind you can adjust), high compression, 148mm pump(144 is stock) with magnum stator(what would be the bowl on a berk), larger nozzle, light lay up hull. a ski like this....will make the tears run out from your eyes....may even give you arm pump from hanging on. it may also be super touchy on take off.....like if someone pulls the carpet out from under you.....haha...

Wasnt expecting how hard it pulled. had no problem hitting 58-60mph, like right now.
but....this was expensive. far more than 2k. stockers are good machines. very simple to maintain. also, if you see one for sale, without a trailer....dont be scared. 2 guys can easily load/unload these. the wife an i have lifted ours many times. or, i can make you some bunks that will fit in the bed of your truck....that would slide out and tilt to launch ski.

I have one in my backyard. It belongs to a buddy of mine but he hasn't used it in years and I know he'd sell it. Always runs great. Needs a battery and it'll fire right up. Had it at Mohave a few years ago and it worked perfectly. It's a 650. A few mods. '91 or '92 I think. I'm in Southern California and could probably deliver it a little ways. If your interested let me know and I'll get some pics and a price.

Couple pics. It's pretty clean. No dings or glass cracks of anything. Has an aluminum pole and new bars and a few other goodies on it. Buddy hasn't got back to me with a price but I'm pretty sure he'd take a grand

looks like he changed air filter, added a hose connection to rinse of saltwater....handle pole does look stock tho ???
any pics of the rear(tray area-where you stand), ride plate, or intake, bottom of hull? engine and engine bay looks clean....thats a good sign.

I was in a hurry today so couldn't spend much time taking pics. I'll get some more detailed pics of everything tomorrow. Also spoke to my bud. A grand is good and he's got the title at his place in San Diego. He can overnight it to me if needed so no worries.

Ok. Looked a lil more closely today. Engine hood has stress cracks on 1 side. AlumInum pole is on my SJ not this one. Has Ocean Pro ride plate. Pump is stock. Motor is stock except for the air cleaner. It's a 90. It'll run great with a new battery and some new fuel. Always has. Plenty of power for my 190 pounds. Anyway let me know if you want to check it out. Thanks
