My girlfriend's dad used to wash roger's boats at weiman marine in bellflower in the late sixties. He earned $8 a weekend so I doubt this is one of the firsts.

different company.

Weiman Marine was Roger's dads company. "Roger's Custom Boats" is the company he started with his dads molds in '71

My girl's pop's stepdad was an outboard mechanic that had done work there..  he probably had one of the first built by him on his own, but he didn't end up going through with the sale. Roger had told him the deck wasn't matching the hull very well.

I don't know what year he said that was, but he was planning on pulling the boat with his '70 el camino..

I don't do it often, but I do tow my Rogers w/ my '70 el camino from time to time.

Thanks, I'd been wanting this car since I was 16 but the owner at the time didn't want to sell.  Finally got her 20 years later.

Wow! I really like seeing those old school pics. Wonder what happened to both the elco and the boat. I noticed that boat says Rapberry on the side. Wasn't there a famous boat that was called "Rootin Tootin Raspberry"?

yes, thats the old raspberry. I actually had that boat. Found it on the side of this guys house that was gunna chop it up and send it to the dump.

It was painted black with red flames. I sanded it down and threw a junk yard motor in it and raced it in Nostalgia Jet. it lasted a whole 3 laps.  :banghead:

Ron (76 Bonneville) has the boat now.
