So being the broke ass boater that I am, I couldn't justify spending 50 bux on enderle's inline linkage for my dual carbs. So I went to the local off road warehouse and picked up some heims, went to home depot and got a little stick of 1/4 aluminum and made a linkage. The heims are 10/32 thread so I loaded a 1/4-28 tap into the tap handle to lathe the 1/4" rod down. Then tapped it to 10/32. 30 seconds on the buffer and I think it'll work.

the heims had studs in them already, so I just need to pick up a couple 10/32 nuts. Heims were 10 bucks and the rod was 3

yesterday i did a little bit of work on the boat. got a bunch of stuff done on the motor. intake is bolted on, distributor is in,got a pertronix for it too. new fuel pump is on and new crank pulley is on. i also finished mounting my transom plate block offs where the steps used to be, installed the pump and transom adapter, sorry about the crappy pics. oh and i found a trick for getting the transom adapter on and still being able to use the bowl o-ring. my father in law had this stuff he got at a pool supply house called magic something, i lubed up the o-ring, then slid the bottom on until i could get 1 bolt in. then i just sat on the ground and pushed the top on with both feet. the transom adapter slipped on so easy, that i decided to do it twice. i forgot the rubber transom gasket the first time.

Tomorrow morning I might be going up to mo Val to get my upholstery. If I don't, I hope to get the motor in. I'm really getting anxious to see the motor in the boat

I may be dead wrong here, but are you sure you have your plumbing ran correct?  Usually with logs the water comes in off the pump, into the logs, out of the logs to the engine, then out of the engine to the snails. Maybe yours are different, just some food for thought.

So would it be ok to hook the pump to the bottom feed on the log, keep the lines where they are in the pic, and go from block to snail?

I guess bso, but it would be running the water "backwards"

You can see on page 4 of this thread the way it was ran by the previous owner. Sonofabitch! That explains why the motor never ran over 120-140

stupid question of the day, will it hurt to have the carbs facing the way i do? the secondaries are towards the front of the boat. the reason i mounted them in that direction is it would be a shorter run from the pump to the carbs, and i have a push cable.

also another dumb question, i see alot of guys make an aluminum "firewall" that goes on the back seat. should i make one or is it mainly reserved for guys that have the bench really close to the motor

I wouldn't bother with it, did your guy not cover the back of the seat? If not, get some carpet that matches what's in your boat, put it there and you're golden.
