I have seen boats of this caliber sell for 12000 in good running condition. I dont think 6500 was a stretch at all , he problaby could have gotten alittle more if would of held out a couple of months.

No motor and needs a steering cable, I'm not being an ass, I am just saying I could have bought 10 boats like this in the last 6 months for under $4K, it was making me wonder why I am going to put $5K in my 20.5 Elite. :banghead:

Carrera is out of buisness and there is a 20.5 Elite for sale with a Procharged 502 in pretty good shape, the dude said he would take $10.5K three weeks ago....

I think he did very very well....Drew's boat needed $6K worth of help, easy...That's all I'm saying...Don't be hatin'... :D

FWIW I have $1390 (not a typo)  in my Carrera thus far, and it will almost run....(but I ran into a stroke of luck like three times). :thumbup:

Show me a running 454 Carb to pan that has everything but a set of headers for a jetboat for $2500 that will live more than an hour in a jet....

I have been in the marine trades for 20 years and I will say that is a tall order...A 454 (automotive) crate motor with no bells or whistles will run you over $4K....No ignition, no carb, no intake....

It cost me $3K (to build) the 5.7 Vortec in my Z71 pick up..

I don't know where you are buying your parts from , but there is always good running 454's on pb or craigslist for 2500 that came out of boats. Were not talking a race motor or a new GM crate motor. He has the bell housing and the headers so all he needs is a front mount and a running motor. I don't see 6K at all maybe 3K at the most.
And as far as the maker being out of business , that has nothing to due with what the boats worth! 3/4 of the boats on this site the makers are out of business.

Are you trying to be argumentative?

I am not, I am just saying, in this current climate, being winter, and being that everyone ant their brother is giving shit away, he did awesome...

I have a completely restored 19' Southwind jet (different caliber of boat I know) with a full blown JG fresh everything full droop ride plate, rail kit, full stringer, new paint, new seats, new gauges, gear drive (quiet) restored trailer with new wheels and tires, completely rewired boat and trailer, new rub rail and a whole bunch more I am sure, and I couldn't get anyone over $3500, hell we have almost $6K in it....That is all I am saying, I have been watching the market really close for the last 11 months and it has gone nowhere..fast.

I helped sell a friends 1991 Eliminator 20' closed deck jet with a stainless impellered Dominater, just like that one but purples and grey's with a 454 Marine power with 60 hours on it to a dude in Redding (boat was in Gilroy) for  just over $9 grand, and they guy tried to get him even lower when he came to pick it up, this boat could have won a show and shine award with a weekend and some polish, we tried to sell it for 3 months, the phone rang three times, the dude in Redding was the third call.....

The comment about the company being tit's up was just referring to the last five years being really hard on the industry, that's all...

I got out of the boat selling repairing business because I was really tired of working for $1.50 an hour, after my accident, I had some time to think about what I wanted to be when I grew up....A broke mechanic was not it...

I am not trying to be hurtful or vindictive, just honest, the boating world is hurting right now and don't expect too much...

For the record, he did not get $8500, he got $6500, that 24% less....That's huge IMHO, I was thinking in the $5K area would have been really good....

If I could sell my two boats right now, I could keep my truck, I don't think there is any way in hell I could get 76% of what they should be worth....Much less what I have in them...That's all I was trying to convey...
