350 sbc is toast

well i took the badfish to lake elsinore today. had to get towed in. engine began to knock. by the time i noticed it was too late.
the motor shut down on me and it does not look good at all. there a whole in the oil pan. engine still turns over but knocks but does not start.
i dont know where to begin. i need everyones suggestions /opinions/options on this one.
i have never rebuilt an engine before but have done a couple swaps on classic cars.
biggest problem is going to be cashflow.
everyone what are my options i do t wsmt to miss this season

I use G&S machine shop in rialto. $450 gets your crank turned, new bearings, new pistons, valve job, on your heads, new(stock) cam and a gasket set. Rebuilding a sbc is fairly simple with the right tools and a torque wrench. Your motor is shot anyway might as well tear into it and learn a thing or two.

Question... How much can you spend?

I have put in at least eight ZZ350's with better than great results. You can buy a short block for just over $2k and a ready to run for just over $3k. You can't build one for that.

So basically money will be the issue in my case. I going to give g&s a call. I don't mind tearing it down and rebuilding myself. I should have the tools needed.
Anything else I can rent or borrow. Or I'll look for someone's used engine.

ask for Luis. He usually gets in around 10am. Tell him Anthony sent you. Another good machine shop is Brothers auto center in Ontario. Price won't be too different. If u need any help don't be afraid to ask. There is a lot of knowledge on here. Good luck👍👍👍

You need to find out what happened to that sbc, with a windowed pan, the block is probably trashed too.
What HP do you have, what impeller?
A roller suburban short block with decent heads, (64cc's, like vortec or 612's) aluminum intake, 750 holley, will make 325 hp all day long.
A ZZ4 is a good option, too $$$

It's basically a stock sbc from the 70s
With basic bolt ons. Not much horse power but enough to get the 26' float plus 4-5 pasengers plus gear and beer up to about 45-50 at about 5500rpms Berkeley jet

Is this a 4 point mount setup? If so the front mount is different between bbc and SBC.

Not sure. I plan on geting in there this weekend to access the damage and take some photos and get some numbers off the block and heads so I can see what I am working with.
If anyone has an extra motor they would want to sell. Please feel free to let me know

The 454 is fuel injected. if the motor even fits without too much complication is this even an option? I also found a fresh rebuilt 350 short block for a decent price. What would I be able to use from my old engine with having to rebuild Heads etc...
sorry for so many questions but this is beyond my knowledge of engine/boat repair
