Ok.  So I saw a video about a guy who used water to run a car.  Me being the ever curious guy I am, decided to do a little research and see what the fuss is about.  Seemed logical to me, and I'm tired of getting fisted everytime I filled up with gas.  So this little water fuel contraption claims to give 25% at least increase in fuel economy.  At 12 miles to the gallon thats going to save me some coin.  So I did the absolute dumbest thing and went ahead and ordered the plans.  Seems simple enough, I have most of the shit laying around.  The real question will be what happens when I build this thing.  Will I smoke the motor?  Or will I seriously injure myself?  This little project will be done this weekend.  I have a mpg meter on the truck so I will be able to tell in a short amount of time if this thing works.  Probably be able to tell it doesn't work when the fucking motor sends pistons through the hood and I'm really fucked.  So, am I  for trying this out?  This is a true act of desperation, due to the fact that to go to the lake for a weekend is running me about 250 bones for fuel alone, not to mention driving during the week.

I think it's not a good idea,but then,what the hell......I got 2 seater waverunner to ride so I dont have to use the boat as much,cuz...DAMN....I cant afford a 3day weekend in a BBC jet boat anymore!             

A friend of mine saw that on line and thought he would run a little test. He took a jug of water, some baking soda, 2 stanless rods and hooked it up to a battery charger. Let it run for a minite, stuck a lighter over the water and got a flash as the hydrogen burned. This was a very small scale experament, but at the same time pretty cool. He showed it to us last week.

Sounds like you need to buy something a little smaller..... like a Honda Kick-N-Go     

Just do a search on the internet for hydrogen generator.  You should come up with all kinds of ideas.  I don't know the exact website I went to I was bouncing around alot.  Although I just talked to a friend of mine back home and I mentioned this little project.  He said his mechanic talked to him about installing a similar system for 1200.  Said he could take his civic up to 60 mpg.  I'm gaining some confidence here.  I will keep you posted, see how things turn out.  And gee OC, thanks for the vote of confidence.  But to answer your questions, no its not under warranty, and I have an emergency stash (the u.s. government's dime) for repairs should something go catastrophically wrong.

I just think its one of those things your friend does to his car and we all sit around drinking when he fires it up for the first time and one of his pistons ends up on the roof of the house....come on that would just be funny as hell!

All of my cars are still under warranty except my 350Z which is an '03 that only has 35,000 miles on it(play toy) and I wouldnt do it to those.  Although my friend has a '99 corolla with 120k+ miles that I wouldnt mind talking him into doing this to.

In my reading and understanding of what goes on, two things might have caused this.  1.  Due to an excessive enrichment of the fuel/air mix, the timing was not retarded enough to allow for proper ignition.  For example, if you were set at 8 deg before top dead center, and the plug fired, the resultant explosion what be faster, actually trying to drive the piston down on the up stroke, thereby causing a bent or broken rod.  2. You possibly didnt run a leaner amount of fuel, which would do the same thing.  Thats sort of the point of this, if your running leaner, but getting the same results, viola, better fuel economy.  So let the experimentation continue!
