ive ran both a mechanical and electrical.  the electrical was noisy...  i did use it to drain the tanks when i wasnt using the boat though.  i now have a mechanical and it "just works"

just get this and keep it simple.  i do have a pressure gauge on my fuel rail of my carb too.

I also run a mechanical. Does the job. I run that same Holley on my 355 race motor and it does just fine

So the 110 GPH will do the job? I take it the &0 GPH IS FOR SBC?

I'm seriously considering switching over to a mechanical pump.

110gph is fine for a mild BBC, 80 is for a sbc.  the most important thing is pressure.  That holley i linked wont put out more than 8psi and *most* carbs dont want anything over 7-8psi.  If you get a pump thats a higher psi, you'll need a pressure regulator and a gauge on the fuel rail.  I'd personally have a gauge on the fuel rail (and i do) regardless so when/if you have engine problems you can rule out one of the main 4 causes... fuel, compression, air, spark.
