I am putting a stock 454 out of an 83 rv into my southwind. I want to toss a cam in it just to give it a good choppy idle. Not expected a whole lot out of the motor as far as speed its just a lake boat for now. Whats a good sounding cam that doesnt require changing the valve springs and all that. Just cam and lifters.

Iv used comp cams xtreme marine xm278h number 11.240.4

Excellent performance, sound, and best of all, no real valve train modification manditiory, although any time you install an "upgraded cam" it's best to use new/matched springs.

If you are upgrading the cam, i take it you gave an aftermarket intake?

Dont have intake yet. Got one waiting on my $ to add up ma little before i can get it. Preciate the help
