Was heading back to put the boat on the trailer and noticed the oil pressure was really low, so i shut it off. Checked the wires to the sending unit and gauge and then fired it back up and it was at zero? What could have caused this? Oil pump driveshaft snapped, oil filter clogged, pickup fell off of oil pump? I pulled the filter off and it was completely full and put a mechanical gauge on the motor, started it up for about 2-3 seconds. no oil pressure. Boat has a 10qt pan on it, going to try a new filter and see if maybe the old one got plugged up somehow, but probably not my luck.

Pulled the dist out of the motor to check the pump shaft, it was ok. So i put a drill on the pump to run it and see what was going on, had flow out of the filter housing. Put new filter on, ran drill till i got alot of resistance. Still no pressure on gauge. So then i pulled the drivers side valve cover, all good there. Then to the passenger side valve cover, found a rocker loose and the pushrod sitting off to the side. Pulled the pushrod out, it was broken in half almost. So i pulled the intake manifold, found a lifter that jumped out of its bore, so i put it back in and primed the engine with the drill. I got 65 psi on the mechanical gauge. So i'm going to replace the pushrod and check the valve lash and put it back together. Guess i'll have to keep a closer eye on the engine revs
