the word is that the motor has 66k on the clock and ran when it was pulled last spring.

im gunna slap a pan on it and my tunnel ram...and run with it.

Sounds like a no brainer. Of course, if you really get desparate, I still have another Mopar BB sitting in the garage...they tend to keep on running (though I've done the same thing that you did)...

Brad, while you have the pan off check the main/thrust bearing for damage.  If the truck was totaled with a severe front end collision the weight of the crank can damage the thrust (more common in big diesel trucks but not hard to check at this point)

nope....havent made much progress since i tore it down...maybe i will get started on it this week.

As I once said " if you aren't breaking parts, you aren't trying hard enough!"

That was an 8500 RPM 440 with a big solid roller, tunnel ram and a 300 shot.

Lasted for 15 years - strangely enough broke (well fully broke) at idle not on the pass I had made just 10 minutes before. Lucked out on that one.

Well then, under those circumstances I'd say it held up better than anyone could expect.  Good. Nice to hear, as they are usable in a 460 stroker of sorts (baby stroker). The 440 rod may be on the heavy side for a stock rod, but they are quite strong...and most strong aftermarket steel rods have some mass to themselves anyway.

There is the 6 pac rod and then the LY - LY's are prefered by me as they are beefy but not overly heavy like the 6pacs.

seen it in another post garage sale = extra boat money if ya can and you can get some headers ya might find a soft heart here that has a set 460s need to breath good an intake would help to ive had a few trucks with 460s they take alota punishment and keep goin  good luk if i come acros 1 ill let ya know
