I have three or four modules here at the house from when I had my shop....Keep em because all my buddies still have boats...

There are a few distributors that are a bitch to figure out, on those I just get the whole distributor.

First I'm an idiot and didn't realize it was a marine block(previous owner said it was a motor out of a truck) so I originally tried to get a 351w dizzy. It has a lip on it where it goes into the block and won't fit. The dis I pulled out is totally smooth. My iPad won't let me post pics but I can email them to you. There is no name on my original dis but there are a bunch of numbers. I've tried to look them up but no luck. I bought a pertronix part number 1281 but it wouldn't fit into the dis housing.  Honestly I don't want to spend 250 or more on a dis. The boat isn't worth much itself. Ya I run Chevy in all my stuff and the is the first ford that I've ever messed with.

There is literally no difference between a marine block VS. automotive, truck or otherwise....

There are however two versions of the 351.

There is the Windsor version (small) and the Cleveland version (bigger).

Don't know what you mean by ridge...

Look at where the dis slides into the block on this one. It's smooth. It's just like the original dis that came out.

This is the only one I can seem to get. It has a slight lip on it that won't go into the block.

I hate points and don't want to run them. My original dis is reusable but I can't find the fit electronic upgrade for it. Pertronix keeps telling me that the pn 1281 is the one I need but it won't fit in the housing. I'm 95 percent sure it's a Windsor. The heads are about the same size as a Chevy head.

It should be a Windsor, but you are showing a big block distributor......

Do you have the model number of your original distributor? I do not believe a 1281 will fit anything but a Motorcraft distributor.....Do you really have a Motorcraft distributor? I'm betting not. More than likely a Mallory. which should take a 7ML-181...
