does it go away when you turn the water pressure up?

only thing i can think of is the log isnt filling fully with water and so theres burning hot spots near the ports that just instantly turn anything to steam... do you have a block or kink in one of your hoses?  also hows the exit hole from the log/snail to the exhaust?  if its too big or corroded it wont hold the water back into the log. 

I thought my Southwind steamed a lot too. But talked to a shop about it and they said "it's a pretty normal amount for the set up and age". Whatever that means, but yeah.

Now Brads got me worried about mine - steam dissapates a little further than the end of the pump, 4' behind transom? Never noticed this before yesterday. Water temp 135*-145*. I wonder if a pressure check would show a head gasket/cracked head/exhaust to log leak?
