Having an issue with diagnosing backfire through my carb at 3500 rpms and above. This problem all started after I blew my 50 amp breaker and resetting it. Have not been able to locate  the source for the breaker popping. But, after resetting it I now have the backfire issue. Have had a shop trying to figure this issue out for a month now with no success.    Lakewood, huh, Palo verde and Del amo here....

Couldn't seem to find them down at the county lock up, so figured they must be out of business.

I find this interesting... How did you determine it was the tach? I would have never figured the tach gauge in this situation

I would of never have thought of it either, but after many calls to different people and finding a marine power owners manuel online with trouble shooting ideas. One of the things to check was the tachometer. The people I talked with all had the same answer when I asked if it could be the tachometer. " I have heard of it causing this to happen, but have never ran into it actually happening". So, I decided to give it a try. Disconnected it and what do you know, problem solved.

Apparently if it is going bad it grounds out the coil. Ran all day yesterday with no backfire or popping breaker. So, New tachometer is on order.  Sorry for the long winded answer.
