So, ever since you've brought this up I've been talking to the boys at Z-alt trying to figure out what they're selling.....

Seems their claim to fame is that they've found a way to keep moly in solution...which nobody else has been able to do.  They might have something with their additive.

I wouldn't bother with their oil though...it's nothing special.  Just a basic crap group II base stock
SG oil that is about 20 years obsolete....which is probably why it works in old cars.  They say their base oil has a minimum of 1750ppm ZDDP.  Because of the ZDDP content, this oil will not meet any API grades after 1996....but they say they're getting it from Chevron.  ...maybe they've got a couple of old rusty tanks full of it leftover.

The fact of the matter is that if they are using an SG base oil, their additive is relatively pointless because the base product itself has everything you need to keep a flat tappet cam happy.   

This is not, buy any means, a high performance oil.  It's crap oil with a questionable additive that would work great in your bone stock 74 cadillac that comes out of the garage every now and again for a stroll down to the diner. 

The additive may be of value when added to a higher quality oil derived from group III or Group IV base stocks, but group II stuff is for the lawnmower.

I TOO WANNA CHANGE THE OIL BUT NOT SURE WHAT I SHOULD BE USING... SINCE ITS A BOAT AND NOT A CAR....

In all my cars/boats I have only ever used kendall or lately I have been using Valvoline VR1 oil..... In my motorcycle I use either Yamalube or Amsoil.

I have been an Amsoil user/dealer for over a decade, love the stuff..

Castrol is good stuff, but with the reformulation, all oils are going to start to suffer...

I would recommend using "Racing oil" with the needed zinc that is missing from the new formulations...

I also use Comp Cams additive for good measure, I call it cheap insurance.

You cannot do "bad" by changing out old oil. Hell Wesson oil in the crankcase is better than old grungy contaminated crap.  

Just remember opinions are like anuses, everybody has one...

I will never push a product down anyone's throat, but hit me up if you want to know more about Amsoil and their products...I don't make a boatload on cash from it, but if I can help you out, lemmeknow....

I use the Dominator 15w50 with a half dose of Comp Cams additive and my oil temperature is controlled....The oil samples come back "contaminated with free zinc"...
