I have a 460BBF that has been getting a little milky.. since it’s winter time I decided to replace head gaskets and Intake gaskets. After removing heads checked the head gaskets and didn’t notice too much damage but was wondering if you can get water from the head bolt areas or any other spots? Noticed water in back of block and milky in the head stud threads, Or am I just taking in too much pressure? I’m regulated with a gate valve from pump and I have a gate valve for headers that’s usually slightly cracked. Does anything in these pictures jump out to any of you as a problem?

Put a thin layer of black silicone around all the water jackets on the block under the head gasket and again on the top of the head gasket so it seats well to the head surface.  Also on the water jackets on the head where it mates to the intake

Appreciate the advice! The head gasket I have on now our felpro permatorque mls is there a recommended head gasket or can I just reorder the same one from before? Once again thanks for taking the time to respond!

i would not put silicone on my head gaskets, if the heads and block are not warped you dont need it...those head bolts have a hight torque, 100 pounds or so if i remember rite?.. that being said look at the timing cover very close,

MLS head gaskets are not very forgiving to an imperfect surface.  It's possible they can weep if the block and heads weren't specifically surfaced for their correct finish.  Unless you're running boost they're also overkill.  A composite gasket with stainless fire ring like the 17068 should be a good fit.

I agree that silicone on the head gasket is a no-no.

A light silicone smear around the water ports is a good idea on the intake and corresponding mating surface on the heads, with the intake gasket between the smears :)

Be careful using the term silicone. RTV only.

Silicone is for tub and shower surrounds...
