Well since river season is nearly here I want to re wire my Tahiti, because my only problems with the boat has been electrical. There isn't a stereo or anything in the boat besides gauges, so it should be really simple.

Is it worth buying a kit, or should I do it myself? I'll admit I'm not the most electrical savvy guy, but I'm not a complete idiot haha. If anyone has a wiring diagram it would be much appreciated!

make a diagram first and foremost.  label everything and give yourself some room to grow.  you say you dont have a stereo now, but what if you want one in the future?  leave an extra power wire in your harness, etc.  also i suggest using a relay panel so that you're not running big amps up and down the boat.  this will let you run smaller gauge wire and you can invest in higher marine quality stuff.  plus the relays offer increased protection along with fuses.  im running one of these:

Okay well I'm near done with re wiring the boat. I ripped out the old points distributor and all the crap that was it it, the old alternator, and replaced them with a HEI Distributor with a in cap coil, then I got a one wire alternator.

My question is how would I properly wire the distributor and alternator (obviously separate)
