Ok guys'
Heres my delima I have a set of Bassett thru the transom headers now tips are just under the water line, I have a 89 commander my question is I have a z-88 ISKY cam it has a 272 duration both intake and exhaust at .50 thousands with 108 center lobe my tip's have flappers in them would i have a problem with it sucking water back in with that big of a riser bent into the pipes? I tried putting a set of over the transom but it did'nt clear the pipes did'nt clear the transom all this is making me go
and i just keep
any help or advice would be gr8tly appreciated.

I bet you'll be o.k. that cam sounds smaller than the crower 01206 I had in my last motor, and mine was 108* also. Keep the injection lines dry till 2k or so and turn the idle up ....and cross your fingers.lol

Dude you should be fine with that RV cam.
Just kidding, I ran a stick (cam) .258/.266 @.050 with same headers. No problem just make sure you use the bassett "T" valve.

It's good that you are thinking about this b4 trying it out! I'm wondering if anybody has a common sense way to check. I mean... couldn't you fire up the engine out of the water and hold your hand (or a flat piece of wood) over the end of the pipe and feel if you are getting any overlap? (I don't know I'm not that good of an engine guy.) If you had any cam overlap wouldn't it create some suction?

Thats funnie there RV Cam huh
ok well I guess theres only one way to find out huh......I just thought 98 degree overlap was alot

I doubt you have 98* of overlap, if I remember right my crower 01206 had 21*. Good luck.
