Looking at a
performer intake 2166, 0 to 5500 rpm
comp cam CL34-227-4
Holly 750.
Anyone have better advice?
Thanks.
The factory 460 Marine engine has a better suited intake manifold than the one you are considering, and the camshaft you listed isn't any better either. In fact you'd probably end up with a better engine if you were to stick with the OEM 460 Marine components and blueprint that engine plus a little bit of port work on the heads...not that I'm suggesting you do this, just providing some perspective.
For a pump gas friendly stock 460 rebuild, use some 1988-1992 460 EFI pistons, deck the block to 10.295", double-roller chain, Lunati 10340702K Cam Kit, bowl blend your D3VE-A2A heads, knock down the valve guides on the valve spring side for retainer-to-guide clearance, stainless intake and exhaust valves, 460 Marine intake or Weiand 8012 Stealth (if you don't have the OEM Marine intake), etc, and you should have near 400 hp with 850 cfm and logs.
If this is not what you have in mind then please call directly to discuss and I may be able to help.
