Ford 460? It depends which water pump block off plate you have, but if your block off plate is the more common style with two water inlets (one at 3 o'clock and one at 9 o'clock) you will be okay without the anti-cavitation plate. Be sure to inspect your timing cover for electrolytic corrosion which often begins behind the anti-cavitation plate and adjacent to the driver's side water passage.
