502 GM crate motor 500HP

This started out as a 502HO (450HP) with only 5 hrs use (we sold customer a 650HP custom engine and took this in trade

We took the motor and completely striped it down and blueprinted it our way

Block Work
Block was hot tank and honed for correct piston clearance and deck/Mains checked for size
Rings moly and gapped to our specs for marine use
Pistons are SRP's they were cleaned and domes polished (to help stop carbon build up and anti detonation)
Rods GM 502 forged dimple rods with 7/16 bolts, these were checked for size
Crank GM forged, crank was checked and micro polished and balanced to our specs
Bearings Cleveite H series clearances set at .0028 mains and rods
Cam was upgraded to the ZZ502 cam
Heads are 12562934 GM marine heads, these were pocket ported and 3 angle valve job done with our special cutters then rebiult with more spring pressure and set up for the extra valve lift of the ZZ502 cam
Oil pan Dooley full 10qt marine
Oil pump was upgraded to Melling M77HV hi volume pump and HD drive shaft with steel collar
Rockers crane alum 1.7 ratio
Valve covers polished alum marine with breathers
Intake Weiand Stealth
Carb Demon 850cfm
Distributor MSD marine
Wires Taylor 9mm
