Offer him a couple of hundred. It has a trailer, motor and pump. you could get your money back out of those items if the hull turned out to be junk.

Yeah I may run everything by him and offer him a couple hundred mainly because its sitting on a trailer(that needs work) and has the motor and pump. He says he's selling it because he's moving to an apt and its been on craigs for a month now, he said he's had a few people call or look at it but obviously nothing's happened. I kinda want the thing but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. What do you guys think about the over all look of the hull? I want that hotrod boat style an looks that the smaller jet boats have but something big enough to be in lake waters and haul more than 2 people.

I know you are saying it's too far to drive and there isn't enough jets out there, but if they all look like that one. Make the drive you will spend half as much money, yeah it will be up front but in the end it will be half worth it. I'm in so cal and picked my 20.5 up in havasu, guy drove out from Powell because he was having a hard time selling it out there.

Well I may em up gettin the thing, he was asking 650 on Craig's he's at 500 but I figure if I tell him 400 hell probably do it and at that if it turns out to be junk I can take the pump and 460 and snails and have my money back for sure.. But I'm still thinking about it ill let you guys know what I do and if I end up getting it ill get it home and take some pictures and clean it up a lil and take more pictures. Thanks for all the opinions guys I appreciate it. One more thing I saw a couple 21 footers with a wake board tower I thought looked cool online. Any takes on that? I know a lot of you jet boaters hate the idea. The blue one is actually 22ft but the white one is actually a biesemeyer like the one I'm looking at. Sorry about the picture quality that's the best it would let me see the picture

Towers are nice if you wakeboard a lot and look good on a bigger boat. In the end you have to make the boat work for you.

Blue boat looks ok with one cause its a deeper hull, other boat is hideous! Towers just don't belong on jetboats...

towers are functionality over form.  if you ski and wakeboard, etc a lot then it makes a lot of sense.  those items take up a huge amount of space and arent fun laying on the floor attacking your aknles while you're driving the boat.  so it makes sense.  also the tower allows you to put the rope up higher and helps pulling novice skiiers and boarders out of the water since its basically pulling them "up" not forward.  if you can live with it, they're great.

one thing to think about is where you store the boat. if you're going to put it in a garage most towers dont fit and will need to be folded down in order to clear.  make sure they demonstrate how it folds etc.  the mother in laws mastercraft requires folding the tower, which leaves a crease in the seat, you have to lower the trailer on the ground to get under the front of the garage, etc.  so make sure you measure first.

Yeah I do wake board and if I did get one Ill be looking for something easy to disassemble and remove cause I wouldn't want it on the boat at all times. I agree jet boats with towers do look a little silly but hey I don't really have the scratch to go out and buy a brand new wake board boat.

I say drive west young man. Their are a ton of boats for sale even where your grand parents live. Get a great boat and maybe patch up some family drama. Sounds like a win win. Good luck.

"Yeah I do wake board"

IMHO: Jet boats do NOT make good wake boats.  I'm not a wakeboarder, but based on the speeds that boarders normally run, a jet boat does not make a good candidate.  I have a 22' Dana cruiser similar to the one you show (sans tower).  It's difficult to get it to run in a semi-displacement mode, at wakeboard speeds.

BTW: What make is that 22' boat?  Hull lines look similar to mine.

Lol yeah who knows.. I just get impatient maybe I should slow my role and do some more looking and be patient. But Where I found the pics of that 22 it says its a 1985 targa day cruiser. But all I know is I'm about ready for a restoration with the new assortment of air tools I've picked up from harbor freight today including a new air compressor and welder. Just ready to find a nice float I can't live without

Harbor freight.... I can't stand that place. Be ready to go back there and get replacements after those break. I needed an air board for a job once and only really for one job so I picked a cheap one up from there. Worked for 10 minutes.

Like everyone else has said be patient and you'll find something. Not a bad idea to take a trip out west though and pick one up, lots of good deals available. Just make sure that trailer is good if you're driving all the way back ;)
