Adding HIN Number
« on: June 25, 2011, 08:45:11 AM »
I was givin a HIN number I have to put on my hull by the Arizona game and fish and they say it has to be on metel and secured to right/rear of transome. What are some good ways to do this and have a stamped plate made?  Could I use the punch style numbers and stamp it myself into the aluminum trim on rear of boat?  My boat is 1972 and I guess they did not do HIN numbers then.

I'd take a piece of stainless to Things Remembered and get it engraved........then just screw or rivet it in place...........that is if you want to do what they told you to.

Personallly, forget that crap.......unless you sell the boat it will NEVER be an issue...........

I had mine done at a trophy shop, had them do two, one for the transom, and the other under the gunwhales in case it was stolen/recovered.
2 was under $15.00.

So I can put MY paperwork on an unnumbered boat???

My HIN has been checked once by game and fish, no HIN could be an issue/hassle, insurance likes them on there too.

I've never seen them check that.....just the Reg numbers.......Same as I've never had a cop check the VIN on a car. If the pates are ok, you're ok. If they issued you your Reg Numbers, put 'em on and run it.

Mine is CFZ and I just made a plate out of SS and stamped it.  I used grey 2 sided tape to install.
