Intake location ???????

So the hull is gettin a swap from the Cuzzi to a Berk.
With a littlle massaging

the berk intake fits in the hole

Bad news is the hand hole cover is in an undesirable location for me.
What will the effects be moving it forward vs. moving it back ?

Nope ......
The suction housing was powder coated and I'm not going through that again over a hand hole cover.
I can weld aluminum so I can modify some shiz .
I'm more concerned with the handling aspect ......

well since this is team cold beer racings confidential rave hull...i am unable to answer any questions at the time...if i knew the hull i still couldnt...i guess the only advice i could give is see where other peoples pumps are set up with this hull and the hp they are making...once again i could be wrong...i just been known to have an answer for everything!

Thats the kicker, I probably wont have to cut the bottom out

My pump is about an inch and a half in from there, don't know how much difference it would make between the two. Best way is to try it out

If you move it forward you will need to move the motor forward, unless you use one of those drivelines that doest need a PTO. As far as bad handling from the pump itself being forward, you could always use a bowl extension or a longer droop/snoot to make up for it, couldn't you ??

Ironman and I have been talking about this same issue with his new project (same bottom same pump swap) and a few people have said, do not set a pump back on these boats, not sure why. $:-\$

That is about where my pumps sits and there is a guy here locally that makes fiberglass inverted transom covers. Keeps the handhole outside the boat as the glass goes "inside the boat. He sells them for 225 uncut and with whitegel. I can send you a picture of what they look like if you want me too?

Ive worked on a few boats that had the same problem. I have put the pump back in with the clean cover off (so you can turn the shaft to line up the knuckle) and didnt realize the cover wouldnt go back on with the pump in so out it came. So if you dont care about being able to use the clean out i would put a little sillycone on it and tighten it down good. Dominator makes a bigger and longer transom cover that would cover all the way to the bowl if you go that route. just my .02 Matt

I set my pump back 5 1/2 inches to where the hand hole is completly out of the transom. The boat is a 18' Syndicate.I did this with intentions of running a pop off and a jet-a-way. You may run into motor clearance to the back of the boat if your not running a ratchet device or drive line. I also had clearance problems with the headers,my boat is really narrow in the back. As for the handling it definitely made it a little more squirrely. Ive seen people fill the hand hole with resin if your looking for an inexpenive way to take care of the problem.

Its got a slight curve to the bottom. I would have to say no to the delta pad but unsure. Is it still considered a delta pad if it slightly rounded?
