Thats not to old then it has #'s somewhere, but if Josh cant find em then i would say they were filled in during the painting process.........

Do some old school  Paper and a pencil that should bring up the numbers

Hey, isn't that Cas's old Tahiti? Shoot him an pm over at banderlog and I bet he could fill you in on some of the history of that boat.

By the way, there's now way that thing was built in '85. It should say Tahiti on the pink, or Schuster, or Bell Inc or Hardin marine, depending on when it was built, ..but not "schineda" what ever the hell that is.  ::)

Well if its not a tahiti you may have to change your name ;)  We have an Omega out in front of our shop that could be its twin.  Interesting thing it it has original omega tags and gelcoat but the HIN has been filled in and branded/etched with a "home made ID", One can only imagine what happened there ::) .......backfees, lost reg......etc  It also originally has a Panther so you never know you could have an Omega.  Omega Mike just doesnt have the same ring...

We also had a Charger in that appeared to have the same bottom, different deck though

My Tahiti ad the id # in a metal tag to the left of the drivers seat on the gunnel, I don't remember it having any on the transom, but I could be wrong.

Type the first 3 letters of the HIN off of the registration papers into here
http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_database.htm
and it will tell you the manufacturer it's supposed to be registered under.

You boat might have been built before the 'done in the mold numbers' were required by the coast guard, some time around '73-4 if I remember right. Some shops took longer to comply and ramp up to speed on the numbers thing than others . Our '68 Tahiti just has the tag like your old boat and hotrod56 was kind enough to give me a tag last year off a Tahiti that my dad rigged, has his initinals on it and hangs over my work bench.  ;)

most of those tahiti, kona, hawaiian, etc boats were made by a Bob Schuster back in bellflower, CA.  My old tahiti had a placard from "Schuster boats"
