hello
my name is glenn and i am from belgium i am a real big fan of jetboats and v-drive boats

i found a hull here in belgium its original a V-drive butt i would like to convert it to a berkley jet drive
can any one of you guys help by telling me what make  and model this boat is and possibly aprox year

does it have a HIN# on the rear passenger side?  or on some flatbottoms it was in the middle on the rear. 

id keep it a vdrive.  there is nothing like the feeling of mashing the throttle on a vdrive and going balls out.

if you go to "http://www.performanceboats.com" and look in the for sale section and find a guy named "Mouzer" he has a ton of old vdrive stuff for sale at all times.  Probably enough to build at least 3 boats.  I know you're overseas and it might be a little difficult to ship.

hin nr i dont know because i haved bougt the boat yet i wanted more info on the the hull first
i will email the guy today for possible hin nr  its a 2 hour drive over there so its a long way to go just to get a hin nr en some pics

about the v-drive conversion


the boat does not have any of the vdrive components noteven the skeg in the middle
butt i do have a berkley pump in my garage that i bougt a  year a go to do this kind of projeckt its a berkley JE

can any telll me why it would not be a good idee if not for the performance of a v drive

 sounds like fun with a v drive like you said ball tru the wall butt the engine i would install is just a normal chevy V8 350 cub

1 - big blocks are rare here in belgium
2 - whitch the feul cost here in belgium i can not pay for the feal consumption of a 1000 hp engine

@IRRebel i whas planning to go out on the channel if it does a topspeed of 45 miles/h it would super

i will try to get the hin nr as fast as possible 

now i go out boating with my self remade " offschore looking " speedboat 21 ft

A jet/small block configuration normally doesn't work well together,


WHY? 

sbc, 19' Saguaro bowrider, "A" Impeller, 55+ mph w/3 adults, gear, cooler, etc., over 60 solo. 5 mpg too 

Flatbottom and a pump, although not ideal, would work (he's got the parts)

Well I can tell you this.  What you have is a 1973 Sanger flatbottom, and its a heavy layup. First three letters of the HIN make it a Sanger (san), the h makes it a heavy layup and the last to numbers are the year, 73.

Heavy lay up thats a good thing right?

 Depends on you point of view.  Heavy = thick, strong, but heavy.  Good cruiser / lake boat.   They made 4 versions as far as lay up, H = heavy, M = medium, L = light, and SL = super light.  SL was only for the race boats.

 There was also many different lengths of Sangers, 17' 10", 18' 3", 18' 6", 18' 10", etc, etc.  As well as different bottom designs among the "flats". There where true flats, runner bottoms, and the gullwing.  That one looks to be a true flat. 

 Hers an idea for you.  Sense you going to chop the bottom off and build a jet friendly bottom, why not get creative and build it into a tunnel hull ? 

 And as far as that JE pump you have,     You would be way better of finding a "normal" pump.  That insert pump is going to turn into a real pain in the azz to get right.  You might get ahold of Tom over at Jet boat Performance though.  Maybe the next time he chops up a boat to replace one of those things with a standard pump set up, he can save you the insert section.  He might even a section sitting in the trash pile.
