Going to be trying to carpet the Kona when I get it back next week, any tips / tricks on carpeting??

I'm watching close because I need to do mine this winter when I get mine painted. I helped my dad do our boat growing up and I remember using an outdoor loop carpet and some 3M spray glue. But I don't remember much else. And I'm also wondering how that will hold up down here with all the heat.

A very untechnical post but it's the best I can do for now, maybe it'll help someone search for the right answer. My friend Don has done carpeting in boats many times. If you want the carpet to stick permenently any spray glue is out of the question. Spray glue's break down easily with fuels and oils. He gets glue that comes in a bucket and puts the glue in the boat with a trowel (sp?), let's it sit for a while, then lays the crapet down a section at a time. Good luck.

This is what i used......$25 for a bucket and worth every penny

Hey guys there is an older post about this. That glue can be bought from westmarine, it works awesome. You use a trowel that is serrated, kinda like one that is used for tile. Have your pieces cut to fit and you can have it done real quick. It doesnt set fast so you will have time to move them around for an exact fit., and it isnt like elmers or others as when you put the carpet up even on the sides it wont fall down or move, mine has been in 4 or 5 years now and still looks like new Mark

It lays down just like after wet cement has had a rough trowel run over it with grooves left in the cement, once the carpet is on you do not see any ripples, grooves, or whatever.

Also Rod is right about the spray stuff! It dont work!! I even did the area under my tanks down to the stringers where it is not the best of water there alot, and always wet and it is still down tight. just another of my 02 guys Mark

I was a little leary about it at first but , it was a piece of cake..........The glue is super easy to work with. I used a plastic trowel.....and threw it away when i was done

I just replaced my carpet with the "stuff/glue" in the bucket and intead of using a trowel I used a think mat paint brush. I think it spreads the glue more evenlly and it is a hell of alot easier to get in the nooks and cranies.

I meant using a paint brush in tight, small areas, obviously not on the wide open areas.

THE 62.00 WAS FOR THE CARPET, AND I TALKED TO MY UPHOLSTRY GUY AND HE SAID THAT WAS A GOOD DEAL ON THE GLUE SO I JUST ORDERED IT ONLINE. BUT YA I CAN GET YOU SOME CARPET NO PROBLEM.
