MY SUPPLIER DOESN'T SELL THE BERBER LOOPED CARPET LIKE THAT. THIS IS THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED MARINE CARPET.

Thanks anyway. I got some samples and I just don't care for the fuzzy stuff that's in the boat and the samples were pretty much the same thing.

I thought i would add my 2.5 cents in just in case this is still being contemplated.
I have done 4 boats and it just gets easier every time.
1. Layout the carpet and cut a pattern leaving about 3" overlay on all ends. Peel it back and paint on the glue from the bucket to both the hull and the carpet backing and let it tack up. Do 1/2 the hull flooring at a time. Also, you can use the 3M (77) spray for spots that you cant get witha brush.
2. Lay the carpet down after it tacks up from the middle to the bow, then work your way out to the sides. ****TAKE YOUR TIME BECAUSE AS YOU LAY THE CARPET DOWN IT WILL BE A BEHOTCH TO PULL BACK UP***. Do it by hand that way you are sure to get the carpet wedged into all the nooks and crannies withour wrinckles.
3. Then do the other half just as the first.

I usually do the floor and trim at the seam where the floor meets the sides. and do the sides seperately. I found that if i do the floor and try to wrap it up the sides it creates an air gap and eventually it will wrinkle and peel up.

Doing it like this I was able to re-carpet a 19' Bahner for about a C-note. And it looks just as good if not better than anyother one i have seen.

Hey RB thats exactly how I did minewith the sides separate and all and then did the stringers last to get a real tight fit. First 1 for and I thot it came out tits if I do say so myself

no spray. roll the sh!t out of it. ANd take your time. don't spend both side. it is missy and to much glue. The glue can bleed through. Boat's are a plain is the ass. Plus, and most important (the floor must be very very clean) also let the glue dry.

I will help, but you have to bring the boat to me

p.s. I don't do this for a live

(boat) I've just done 20 or 30 of them

Damn folks, laying carpet isn't rocket science. Even a school drop out can do it. Dry fit, glue, press in place and let it cure.

I start from back to front, then a little side to side to make sure I get it off the taint, I mean that's how I do it if I wipe at all.

I don't know how much carpet you need to do, but I like to use 3M #90 high strength trim adhesive which is a fan spray type glue and have had very positive results, just can't use too much and evenly coat both surfaces and let the air dry for a few minutes, the biggest problem is you only get one shot at it, its a little like contact cement,the stuff in the bucket seems like you would get more working time?

My boats are all pretty small, did a bass boat once, don't think I had a piece of carpet bigger than a T-shirt and it took forever

Last year I spent 3 days scraping "stuff" off of the floor of my boat after removing the old carpeting

I would rather make run good than do interior, I don't have the artistic ability.

the spray can adhesive wont hold up in time. you need a waterproof glue. They make spray glue for sprayers, but its like 500+ for the glue

3m #90 and there one higher like 120 or ? are go for cars

Good info!, My dad wanted me to do it with colored bedliner poly with polished fiberglass stringers and coated "panels", but didn't have the balls....
