hey guys names Jake. im in the process of restoring my 78 cheetah. ive got avaliable to me an industrial sewing machine to do my seats. has anyone on here ever done their own upolsthery? ive been doing alot of reading and research on it and i think with a lil pratice I could do it no problem. thanks for any info

I looked into doing my own interior but after looking around at materials and foam it was almost going to cost me the same as if a shop would do it.  The quality of a pro vs. mine would be worth the extra coin, but I did build my seat frames and covered them in resin to save some money in that area.

A buddy of mine just re-did his own seats and he had absolutely no experience at all before he started. Here's the link to his progress thread.

Ya, I think he did a fantastic job. Ya, a few wrinkles.....but that's okay...especially if he saved some money. Besides, he has bragging rights now too...

I'll find out more on Sunday. We are supposed to meet out on our lake for some "Spring testing" and I'll let ya know what he's got into his seats. I know he bought the commercial sewing machine used on Craigslist.....I think he paid $25 for it. Also, I think he got most of the fabric for free....or one heck of a decent price.

Thanks for the link. depending on the price of materials Im gonna give it a try. whats it cost ballpark for @ buckets and bench to be upholstered.
