To carpet or not to carpet

I have been running my boat for three seasons with no carpet. Thought it was easier to keep clean. Now I have the all the seats and the fuel tanks out and thought maybe its time to put carpet. What do you guys think.......

Pic a similar color of your boat in gel then use 1/2 nap an roll... (Make sure to use the wax) Gel will not dry over epoxy either. I did mine in gel, carpet an diamond plate.

Indoor outdoor carpet at home depot is super cheap.

. Yes and no. Gel kote floors can be a pain to keep clean but you will need a shop vac with carpet. You won't slip and bust your ass after you have a few adult beverages. Carpet is what I went with in my boat seems more user friendly. Mine is black so black gel floors not happening in 110 degree weather.

I rinse mine out around my motor after every trip... going on 3 years with blue gel. Looks just the same. I rolled with 1/2 nap which gave it a slight texture kinda like spray bedliner. I did a combo on my floor.

Looks great, mine is just like it came out of the factory. It has a rough texture, but I watched that project when you were doing it. Thought it was a very nice boat.

Certain Home Depot have the nice black carpet. I got it in chino the one by my house didn't have it. I have a seat pad in my boat that is 3/4 plywood covered in fiberglass. Now it has carpet over it also. It goes from the stringer to the side of the boat. Perfect place to install the nos bottle and keep it out of the sun.

Flo coat. It gets a lil slippery but easy to keep clean. We were gonna try and flo coat jims. It's a lot of work.

What are you guys using to get the old glue/adhesive off? I don't want to carpet back by the engine. Someone already did and now there is old glue everywhere. I want to put something there but I'm not sure what yet. Would rino liner work?

There are chemicals that won't hurt the fiberglass, big I'm not sure what they are. I sanded the carpet glue out of my (old) boat and it was on everything!

If you're considering only coating the bilge area then I would look into "flocoating" it. That small of an area would not be too much work and would look much better than rhino liner.

My floors are dirty from rigging but this is a really basic flo coat and gel. I still have a bazillion hours of sanding to go. Basically a translucent type coating. A ton of work. There are flo coated floors a million times nicer but you get the idea...

I don't have it me in this boat to get my floors like that again. Nothing beats flo coat but damn I was panicked when anything abrasive like sand was near it.

This boat I'm going to carpet the inner and just keep the outer as clean as I can.
