The trim that wraps around the inside of the boat is vinyl with padding, stapled to some type of backing .  All the trim is good except for where the curves are, the backing has deteriorated, what can i use for the curved portions of the trim? I don't want to pull the whole trim off, I just need something i can stick behind the vinyl that can take a staple.

Are the buttons through hull? If so, might try a thin strip of aluminum inside material with similar curve as hull then re-install. I used 1/8 x 1/2 strip for a curve behind my seat in my 56 recently and worked very well. You can see it under the vinyl.

Yes, the buttons are attached to a bolt that goes through the hull. How did you attache the vinyl to the aluminum?

There is a type of moulding we use at work sometimes for window casement. The name is slipping my mind right now but ill let you know when i remember. Also if the bends arent to aggressive you can find some bendy wood at the local lumber yard
