12JE Reversed cable

So I got my cable installed but am wondering the seal at the transom..... is the cable saapose to move in n out when you turn the wheel?.... and if so what’s the proper way to seal it?

Ya you need a second cable bellow/rubber boot to seal it $13 on cpperformance

I had the same deal with my JF pump. Cable slid out too far and tore up the new boot. I know there’s supposed to be a white nylon ring around the cable Inside that disc but the cable does still  slide. Just have to clamp the boot where it can move lock to lock freely. The boot is the main seal. And the nylon ring is the backup but will leak a bit if the boot is torn. On mine anyway. Haha. Hope that helps.
