my boat has been out of the water for a few months and the linkage somewhere seized. me like a dumb ass stripped the linkage at the steering wheel trying to force it free. i worked it out now but i f'd up the linkage forward of the steering wheel.

i have the linkage moving the bar in and out of the transom without the nozzle hooked to it now. when i hook up the nozzle the steering wheel won't turn it. when the nozzle isn't connected to the bar that turns it left or right the nozzle moves freely. the bar moves in and out but when the bar is attatched to the nozzle it is a no go.

is there a write up on replacing the linkage behind the steering wheel ? the cable back there looks dry as a bone. I may be able to slide the cable out grease it up and snake it back in ? how is the cable hooked to the steering gears ?   

If you can find somebody brave enough to pull up on the steering wheel while you smack the center bolt with hammer & brass punch it should come off with little effort.

Now if you can't find a friend willing to allow you to swing a hammer in close quarters with them you might have to hold the steering wheel yourself
