By looking at that pic, and comparing the stainless shaft (color) to the impeller, it looks like aluminum.
do impellers have any way of identifying what cut it is?

Yes, but not from that side. An impeller size is determined by the 'small diameter' on the exit side. Often Impellers are marked wrong, as they start out as an 'A', and are turned down to a smaller cut, 'A/B', 'B', 'B/C', etc...but still marked as an 'A'.
Pull the bowl and find out.
