Hi everyone! Ive got a 460 with a berkeley that needs some work. It appears that the bowl bearings were in bad shape, which may have caused the shaft to wobble and wear out the wearing.. Im kinda guessing at the moment.
Anyway, Im wondering if the overhaul kits on the berkeley website are what they claim. It seems really inexpensive for a complete overhaul vs some other places offering the same kits for x2 the price.
Also, Ive seen a shaft repair kit for $85 to repair worn shaft ends.. Any good.?
Finally, is it fairly straight forward to do an overhaul.. Are there tight tolerances rhat need to be maintained? Im capable with a wrench, and can do things like motorcycle engine rebuilds etc.. Im asking only because I kinda want to be prepared with special tools etc.. I do have the complete jet out of the boat cleaned, and ready to go.
Thanks, Kory
