« on: July 06, 2014, 12:57:44 PM »
I have a carb #6r3385b duel feed single pump vacuumed secondaries it's been sitting on the shelf for about 6 years originally took it off cause it. Didn't wrk  now I'm thinking of rebuilding it for a donee motor that needs a carb on a stock 454  question is can it be rebuilt with the odds of it wrking or should I take it to a carb exchange or get a newer better mechanical sec carb   Pinching penny's here just needs to run no performance

Get the number off the front of the horn plate. If you cant find exact specs on the interweb, call a speed shop and ask.(I've always dealt with J&M speed in riverside). As far as a rebuild kit, i've gotten mine from O'reilly for about $45

Pretty simple. To me, self explanatory. If youre not very comfortable or confident, count the turns of the adjustment screw amd go for it

Even if you buy a new carb you'll need to tear into it to get it set to your motor. Take the time on your current carb to learn how it works. How to rebuild it. Etc.  There is an unlimited amount of help for holley carbs. YouTube videos with step by steps...

Or you can buy a brand new one... Use it out of the box and be "okay" but not great and you just tossed a bunch of money away.

so got the carb cleaned up and rebuilt seemed to be pretty easy will see how it runs. The only thing the carb kit didn't have was any of the vacuum parts for the secondaries is that the norm ??

That is standard, vacuum diaphragm are separate part and not included in kit, just check with vacuum (hose to mouth works) to make sure it does not have a hole in it. Though it should of had the rubber/cork oring that goes between the body and vacuum unit.  Trick kits will come with springs to adjust the secondaries open rate as well as other items normally not needed for a standard rebuild-
Hope all works out-
