Droop Snoot
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:21:43 PM »
I have a Berkeley split bowl Jet with a PD and am looking to adding a droop snoot. What difference will I notice? How much upward angle will it give? I'm pretty much looking for a higher roost. I already have two 4 degree wedges in place (havent seen it in action yet) but I had 7 degrees and it was ok, but never took a pic of it, only saw it from the drivers view. Im sure by adding a droop and 4 degree wedge, it should give me what im looking for. Will I defeat the purpose of a droop, for getting what I want. I'm thinking a rooster booster will be too much, from seeing a few videos on you tube. I'm sure nonsense is getting the best of me here.....

Heres my boat with only a 3 degree wedge.

Just south of Martinez Lake. We shot the video in November, so not many people were out that Wednesday afternoon.  ;D

I don't think a droop is what you're looking for, but could be wrong, a droop will create some bow lift and will make a huge roost more difficult, you need to split the nozzle at the top and remove the revers gat to get more and still be able to drive it, the roost will be OOC though...

Can almost see our trailer in the background there  ;D

The water looked very very low... suprised you didn't hit the sandbar that's usually there on the left!.... Maybe it's moved by now, it's been a while for me  :'(

sounds like youre just trying to get more pin angel. a droop does give pin angel, but theres different ways to achieve that. obviously using wedges is one way....also you can get a rooster booster. I believe ARS marine has them available still....i havent seen them offered 'new' anywhere else.

also, place makes a 'mini' droop....gives you the pin angel, but doesnt drop your thrust line as deep.

ARS has them. I pull tubers, so I'm sure I would be defeating the purpose.  Theres a good chance it will purpoise when I pull tubes too.

Heres a boat with a rooster booster.

The droop I bought from Tom,(don't know the pin angle) helped my rooster , almost as much as my diverter did.

There comes a point where your boat will only be a Great roost maker and basicly "undriveable" under most circumstances , (not enough "down trim to drive normally) The Rooster Booster was abandoned by place diverter years ago , guess ARS picked it up , I know it looks cool to make the big roost but much above a few feet off the H20 is of no practical use Tom

I should just put on the third wedge (3 degree) and so how it rides and looks. Adding three separate wedges shouldn't make the middle wedge weak/unsafe?

Its a little hard to get my diverter lever locked in on the last position, does it look like a tension problem? I checked the cable on the lever and diverter and nothing is rubbing.....

Needs to be a split bowl...goes between the nozzle adapter and the outlet of the bowl  ;)
