How to clean out pump?

I bought a TX-19 in Jan. The pump is set back to where the inspection cover is half in and half out of the transom. On my current boat I can pull the back of the boat on shore and pull the cover to clean out debri s that gets into the pump. Does anyone know how to clean out the pump with the cover half in and half out with the aluminum transom plate sealed to it? The reason I ask is down at Pirate Cove, I have had to clean out my pump on 4 different occasions to get the boat to move.

The one major drawback to a set back pump.

Not saying your screwed, but you will need to build yourself a snot hook.

Basically a rod with a hook on the end and tee handle.

You will need to go in from underneath through the loader grate.

No getting the clean out open with a half set back. You'll have to do what gt said

It also helps to avoid Pirates Cove. I have one discolored header from that place

Pull the trans plate off an cut out that area... Weld in a half circle.

Your Mom, thanks. The most obvious escaped me. I have a friend who is a Great aluminum welder. This past March, the river was so high and full of debris from shore that after 40 miles I eventually got a thick reed in the pump between impeller and wear ring. That was the worst to get out. No hook would've worked. Thanks for the idea!

while i havent had the pleasure of having to clean out impeller....
i am sure if water level ends up lower than clean out opening....you should be good. if you were able to park boat on shore stern first and clean out is higher than water level....should be able to clean out what ever you need to for as long as water remained lower than opening.
