So, I know I already made the first mistake by not removing the impeller prior to engine removal. So, what is the best way to get the impeller nut off with no engine installed.

Get a yoke and slide a piece of pipe through the U joint holes and slap it ovation the spline shaft and push against the stringer.

You can also use an impact gun. Just make sure you use a quality socket.

I have the impeller nut tool and a spline socket. Just extremely difficult to break nut loose.

Soak it down with penetrating oil, the next day, heat it up, a MAP torch is plenty hot, then with a breaker bar or impact, put pressure on it while hitting it with a hammer. It will go.

If it feels like your going to break something, or hurt yourself, stop and drill some holes through the nut at the key slot and cut it with a cold chisel.

It should virtually fall off then.
